OPP 1 - Greensburg - A Lesson in Cooperation

Tuesday, April 28, 2009  ·  10:00 AM - 11:45 AM

In the wake of the EF-5 tornado that devastated Greensburg the world watched as an influx of federal, state, and local governments along with literally thousands of volunteers converged on the small Kansas town. They had one goal: to help pick up the pieces and rebuild. Everyone did their part and Greensburg is slowly taking shape again, however there are lessons to be learned that will better prepare us for dealing with future disasters.

By attending this session, participants will

  1. Hear about the process and status of rebuilding Greensburg in a sustainable way
  2. Become aware of some of the agencies and organizations that are a part of that rebuilding process
  3. Explore lessons learned to better be prepared in facing similar situations
