H2O 1 - Hot Water Forum: Heating, Distribution, Water Use

Tuesday, April 28, 2009  ·  10:00 AM - 11:45 AM

Hot water energy is an increasing fraction of residential energy use. Hot water efficiency requires efficient water heating, and efficient (structured) distribution and consumption (appliances and fixtures). The new ENERGY STAR® water heater program is an enormous step forward, but there are great opportunities in the other areas, as well. We'll survey the opportunities, and outline long-term goals for being in hot water.

By attending this session, participants will

  1. Gain understanding of the state of the art for hot water system efficiency
  2. Learn about concrete steps to improved efficiency in new construction, retrofits, and replacements
  3. Share some information about roles of alternative technologies such as condensing and tankless water heaters, and heat pump water heaters. At least three major manufacturers have announced ENERGY STAR® heat pump water heaters for 2009
