ACI Home Performance Conference 2008

Get It Right the First Time

Examine the impact of popular design features (vaulted ceilings, high glazing ratios, slab floors) on energy efficiency and comfort performance. Case examples will illustrate how problems can be discovered early. Otherwise, these problems may not be discovered until the occupants have been in the home for one or more years. At that point they are difficult to trace back to specific contractors and can lead to major issues for builders, raters, and program managers.

By attending this session, participants will

1.      Better understand how home design features can impact energy and comfort performance
2.      Learn how to identify and address programmatic constraints within the role of the rater / consultant
3.      Hear real world experience of effectively communicating existing or potential issues to builders and architects
