ACI Home Performance Conference 2008

SUST 7 - Real, Relevant, & “Doable” Green Building by Design

Thursday, April 10, 2008  ·  8:30 AM - 10:10 AM

Ninety percent of the effective green building strategies occur within the first ten percent of the design process. Effective and affordable high performance green building is so much more about client education, thoughtful programming, siting, and sound design decisions than about sustainable material choices - although these will be addressed as well. Explore an integrated approach to the five pillars of “green” building - from programming and site planning to well-integrated building science, and energy efficiency.

By attending this session, participants will

  1. Connect the dots between physics, building science, client expectations and lifestyle decisions, climatically appropriate design, US energy independence, and global warming
  2. Clearly articulate the value of thoughtful programming and design as they relate to sustainable architecture and a sustainable society
  3. Prioritize and apply high-performance design / green building strategies
