RES 7 - Ten Simple Things That Don't Really Do Much
Thursday, April 10, 2008 · 8:30 AM - 10:10 AM
There are many sources of energy savings advice for the public but much of it is not very worthwhile. Hear about popular recommendations that have little or no supporting evidence of savings but are still promoted by utilities, “green” groups, and others. Some measures to be discussed include: furnace tune-ups, basement duct sealing, window replacement, floor insulation, weather stripping and caulking, and monthly filter replacement.
By attending this session, participants will
1. Become more skeptical about energy savings advice
2. Better understand how to assess energy savings claims
3. Learn about sneaky complications that make simple ideas not so simple
