Weatherization and energy efficiency projects often occur in homes with asthma triggers like moisture problems, allergen laden carpets, poor ventilation, and pest problems. Learn from research projects about housing repairs that can be integrated with energy efforts to help make the homes healthier and reduce conditions linked to breathing problems such as asthma. This session will offer practical suggestions used in the affordable housing context in both existing and new buildings.
By attending this session, participants will
- Recognize asthma triggers in homes
- Be able to describe housing repairs that can reduce asthma triggers
- Learn to identify housing repairs that mesh with energy conservation efforts and offer improved health
