HEAL 1 - Green Is Hot, But Is It Healthier?

As energy prices soar and home construction drops, homes buyers are in the driver's seat. They are demanding greener homes that are more energy efficient, use more sustainable practices and products, and are healthier. A mix of national, regional, and local green standards have emerged. But do they actually make a home healthier? Examine the health impacts of the latest revisions of the standards and compare the strengths. Explore the challenges of making homes healthier and meeting consumer expectations.
 
By attending this session, participants will
 
1.      Identify changes in the latest revision of LEED and NAHB standards that impact resident health
2.      Describe consumer expectations for green standards with regard to health
3.      Explain how to assess the strengths and weaknesses of each standard
