COMF 8 - Selecting Registers for Air Flow & Comfort

Thursday, April 10, 2008  ·  10:30 AM - 12:10 PM

The often-overlooked impact of supply air register selection on comfort and air distribution will be investigated and explained. Even when ducts are tight, balanced, and correctly sized, comfort can usually be improved by installing the best register for that particular room, dependent on room size, register location, and window configuration. Register choice can also impact window condensation. Manual T will be introduced, and terminal velocity, spread, and throw will be explained.

By attending this session, participants will

  1. Compare register selections and locations, and their impact on comfort and efficient air distribution for floor, wall, and ceiling registers
  2. Explore specific and common register changes that can improve comfort and minimize window condensation
  3. Receive an intro to Manual T, terminal velocity, spread, throw, and readily available manufacturer's engineering data needed to make good choices
