COMF 3 - Local Space Heating & Cooling: Ductless & Pipeless
Tuesday, April 08, 2008 · 3:35 PM - 5:15 PM
Examine the range of local space heating systems now available, from woodstoves and wood and gas fireplaces, to unvented appliances, to mini-split heat pumps and air conditioners. Discover the dramatic real performance ranges in efficiencies from a low of zero to twenty percent to eighty percent to a high of six hundred percent. Combining intelligent layout with the proper local space system can result in major energy savings and GHG reductions, while providing comfort and even pleasure to the occupants.
By attending this session, participants will
- Appreciate the range of local space heating and cooling technologies now available
- Understand the huge difference in energy efficiency and emissions from the different systems, including fireplaces
- Be better able to decide which, if any, local systems can be an appropriate choice for new and existing homes, and how proper location is important to realize the potential benefits from these technologies
