SOLV 5 - Duct Leakage & Duct Sealing

Thursday, February 22, 2007  ·  10:20 AM - 11:50 AM

Utilities will only fund duct sealing if it meets cost effectiveness tests. The pressure is on the contractor to get the work done quickly and effectively. Understand the difference between a hole and a leak, explore the effects of duct leakage on energy use and house pressures, and recognize the importance of prioritizing duct repair work and the benefits of performing diagnostic tests. This class meets the requirements of the Oregon Department of Energy annual technician update requirement for the state's Residential Energy Tax Credit program.

By attending this session, participants will

  1. Learn why energy savings from duct sealing varies in response to location, climate type, and heating types
  2. Find out how to prioritize duct repairs and what to use to fix ducts
  3. Recognize the importance of testing in and out (safety, savings, and crew motivation)
  4. Satisfy Oregon Department of Energy's duct sealing technician annual update requirement
