ACI Northwest 2007
FUND 6 - Intro to HVAC Systems: Efficiency & Performance
Thursday, February 22, 2007 · 1:20 PM - 2:50 PM
Explore the fundamentals of combustion and gain the ability to determine specific parameters, such as efficiency, air requirements, CO2 emissions, as well as strategies to improve performance in specific applications. Understand the operation of heat pumps. Find out why many widely held ideas about HVAC systems are either wrong or misapplied. A special emphasis will be placed on determining greenhouse gas emissions and the relative effects of different mitigation strategies.
By attending this session, participants will
- Gain an understanding of combustion and HVAC system efficiency principles, and be able to determine a range of performance parameters for different fuels and appliances
- Appreciate how energy sources are different, breaking down the myths that are often associated with certain HVAC systems or fuel types
- Find out which HVAC system technologies, energy sources, and / or strategies can truly maximize efficiency and decrease greenhouse gas emission
Keyword(s): appliances, combustion, combustion systems, distribution system, efficiency, efficiency ratings, electric, emission, field performance, fuels, fundamentals, gas, greenhouse gas emissions, oil, system efficiency, wood
