Defining Thermal & Pressure Boundaries

What is a thermal boundary and pressure boundary? How can you make sure the home is not drawing “fresh” air from the attic, garage, or crawlspace? Learn what can happen to a home when the boundaries are not aligned or intact. Find out how to use pressure diagnostics to align the thermal and pressure boundaries.

By attending this session, participants will

1. Understand why aligning the pressure and thermal boundaries are critical to the health, safety, durability, energy efficiency, and comfort of a home

2. Know where to look for thermal and pressure defects and determine where the most effective boundary should be

3. Learn about diagnostic tools that can be used to determine the thermal and pressure boundary

Keywords: design, durability, framing, new construction, existing homes, insulation, air sealing, moisture, pressure, thermal defects
