ACI Home Performance Conference 2009

COMF 2 - Tailoring Air Conditioning For Your Climate

Tuesday, April 28, 2009  ·  1:30 PM - 3:10 PM

North American climates vary. The Southwest is very hot and very dry; the Southeast is very humid; and the rest of the country is mixed. Central air conditioners can – and should – be manufactured, selected, and installed to optimize performance where installed. We discuss regional needs, rating method short-falls, and changes that are in sight to benefit industry and customers.
By attending this session, participants will
  1. Increase understanding of how air conditioners meet space conditioning needs for both temperature and humidity control
  2. Gain some insights into selecting and installing equipment to maximize efficiency while controlling temperature and humidity for that house in that location
  3. Catch up on public policy: EISA 2007 requires the Department of Energy to evaluate up to three regional air conditioning standards. What are the environmental and business implications, and what is the time table?

Type: 100 Minute Session
Track: Year Round Comfort
