ACI Home Performance Conference 2009

COMF 1 - Mechanical Humidity Control Research Update

Tuesday, April 28, 2009  ·  10:00 AM - 11:45 AM

Efficient and effective indoor humidity control is essential to high performance homes in humid climates. Research in the Building America Program brought this matter to light and has been successful in partnering with industry to develop and offer products in order to meet this need. These include systems that explicitly control humidity, not just the effect humidity has as a consequence of conventional cooling or cooling enhancements.

Data will be presented along with systems descriptions and a discussion of a new effort toward dehumidification performance standards.

By attending this session, participants will

  1. Understand why there is a need for supplemental dehumidification in high performance homes
  2. Become familiar with current solutions to residential indoor humidity control
  3. Learn what is being done to improve dehumidification performance standards
