WEVE 3 - Panel: Energy Affordability - Not Just a Low Income Problem Anymore

As energy prices have risen and real incomes have fallen, utility delinquency and related problems are no longer contained within the low-income population. In many parts of the country, the majority of utility bill delinquency and terminations are among customers who are NOT low-income. Examine the extent of the energy affordability problem, and analyze possible solutions, including targeted energy efficiency, Home Performance with ENERGY STAR®, rate discounts, direct subsidies, and other approaches.
By attending this session, participants will
- Gain an appreciation for the true extent of the energy affordability crisis in this country
- Participate in a national conversation to discuss and debate the best way to address the problem
- Identify the benefits everyone reaps from low-income energy efficiency initiatives (non-energy benefits, economic development stimulus, etc.)
