ThPM 10 - Different Paths to New Low Energy Homes

Thursday, April 10, 2008  ·  1:30 PM - 5:30 PM

Low energy housing promises to provide fascination and relevance as the term “carbon neutrality” and “net zero energy” become part of our everyday language. Explore approaches from different climates in the US and Canada for achieving low energy homes. Learn from case studies and examine the systems used to achieve and verify performance. DOE’s Zero Energy Homes, CMHC’s Equilibrium program and the US Passiv Haus (Passive House) experiences will be represented.

By attending this session, participants will

  1. Recognize how design is impacted by specific loads and climate
  2. Have the opportunity to discuss technical and process aspects of low energy homes
  3. Glean insight from case studies, lessons learned, and different approaches to achieving low energy new homes
