This interactive session will explore how communities can address climate change and energy vulnerability by making dramatic cuts in per capita energy use of housing, transportation, and food. Learn about success stories, share strategies from your community, and work together to recommend tactics for a model community. This session is appropriate for representatives from local governments, utilities, neighborhood-based energy programs, and citizen-activist groups.
By attending this session, participants will
- Find out the latest on the end of the era of cheap energy and catastrophic climate change, and the dramatic implications for our economy, our communities, and our lives
- Learn about initiatives at the local level to facilitate household energy reduction
- Hear about the successes and continuing challenges of communities to reduce their energy use, from co-housing projects in the U.S. to the city of Havana, Cuba
