MPM 10 - Deep Energy Retrofits: Moving Toward Carbon Neutrality
Monday, April 07, 2008 · 1:30 PM - 5:30 PM
What if energy use reductions of twenty to forty percent are not enough? It is possible to meet a net zero energy goal in an existing home. Examine approaches to achieve seventy to ninety percent reductions in purchased, off-site energy. Learn from case studies that range from significant energy reductions to net producers of energy. Whether a home is one month or one hundred years old, you can apply the ideas and concepts discussed to reduce its energy consumption.
By participating in this session, participants will
- Understand the planning process and tools available to prioritize load reductions and energy production with renewables
- Learn from case studies of existing homes that were renovated to meet an extremely low energy budget
- Understand creating a carbon neutral home is a process, and that every step counts
