MAM 10 - Passiv Haus Design & Verification
Monday, April 07, 2008 · 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Examine the key principles of the Passive House (Passiv Haus) integrated design system to create buildings that meet a rigorous performance standard for energy use and heating load. A simple building will serve as a case study. Move through a step-by-step process from an architect’s or designer’s perspective. The spreadsheet based modeling software, PHPP, will help to illustrate the design process and demonstrate how to optimize the envelope so that a conventional heating system can be eliminated.
By attending this session, participants will
- Discover the step by step design strategy for Passive Houses and find out how to apply this to easily design a Passive House for any climate
- Receive an Introduction to Passive House calculation and verification design tools
- Understand how to optimize the building envelope and minimize the mechanical system in relationship to each other
