POL 5 - Green Strings: Tying Energy Efficiency & Solar Together
Wednesday, April 09, 2008 · 10:35 AM - 12:15 PM
Solar and energy efficiency should go hand in hand, yet the two are often on separate tracks. Understand the policies and practices that work to incorporate the two. Discuss some of the political messages to help build support for solar and energy efficiency as seen through the eyes of those with first hand experience. As with any successful project, there are often some hurdles, tough decisions, and lessons learned that the speakers will share.
By attending this session, participants will
- Gain an understanding of the genesis that lead to public policies and the politics linking solar energy and energy efficiency in Pennsylvania from a lobbyist perspective
- Hear details of a case study that incorporates both energy efficiency measures and solar in existing homes to greatly reduce the home’s carbon footprint, as shared by a California utility program administrator
- Be exposed to a new home builder’s perspective on marketing and selling homes that exceed ENERGY STAR® standards and include solar PV into the design
