ACI Home Performance Conference 2007
Build it Right
Insulating the roof, rather than the ceiling, and bringing the attic space inside is an approach gaining interest. Unvented conditioned attics actually make a lot of sense. In humid climates, venting brings moisture into the structure. In cold climates venting can bring in snow. So, just don’t vent, right? Not so fast, you have know how to do it right. Examine the construction details that are essential to performance. Learn from monitored projects.
By attending this session, participants will
- Learn when to vent and when not to (the attic that is)
- Have a better understanding of the moisture movement in and through both vented and unvented attic assemblies
- Benefit from our mistakes and successes in creating an unvented attic
