Greenhouse Gas Emissions
This project looked at a middle class, downtown population in Ottawa, Ontario, to see if a community-based approach to greenhouse gas reduction would lead to greater savings than the voluntary programs were achieving with individual households. We looked for reductions in heating fuel, electrical usage, water usage, waste generation, and transportation. The results have been instructive in developing government policy.
By attending this session, participants will
- Be introduced to the concept of greenhouse gas reduction
- Learn which measures were generally successful in this demonstration
- Understand better the motivations of middle class householders for energy savings
