ACI Home Performance Conference 2007

GRN 5 - Toward Zero Energy Homes (New & Existing)

Wednesday, April 25, 2007  ·  10:40 AM - 12:20 PM

The fundamental requirement of a building is as an environmental separator to create an interior environment that is different from the exterior environment. High performance homes use building science principals to reduce the need for electricity and fossil fuels used as energy sources. This session will describe the top ten design elements of high performance homes. Case studies will be provided that demonstrate these principles.
By attending this session, participants will
1. Understand the heating and cooling loads that act upon your home, and how to reduce those loads
2. Find out how to prepare your home to become a distributed energy producer
3. Learn to set goals for performance and to prioritize these goals, so that a framework for making choices is available
