HEAL 5 - Lead Based Paint Issues

Wednesday, April 25, 2007  ·  10:40 AM - 12:20 PM

Lead poisoning continues to be a problem due to deteriorated lead-based paint. In January 2006, EPA proposed a rule that would regulate virtually all renovation, repair, and paint activities that disturb paint in pre-1978 housing. EPA continues to work on the rule, and the research in options, including weatherization, continues to guide efforts. Review the EPA rules, the latest science on health impacts and hazard assessments, and requirements established by individual states.

By attending this session, participants will

  1. Understand the status and potential implications of EPA proposed rule
  2. Explore the new research on the health effects of lead and its implications to prevent all exposure
  3. Identify the various methods to evaluate lead hazards
