ACI Northwest 2007

NEW 6 - Heat Pump & AC Installation & Performance: What Matters?

Thursday, February 22, 2007  ·  1:20 PM - 2:50 PM

Heat pumps are often promoted as the most efficient form of home heating. The HSPF rating of compressor-based equipment only tells part of the story. Factors such as system sizing (“tons”), control settings, and duct performance affect the efficiency and the bottom line for the consumer. Learn how these factors can work together to deliver comfort and efficiency and where to look for solutions when there are comfort problems and high bills. Data from recent field studies will be presented.

By attending this session, participants will

1.      Gain insight into sizing and control strategies that make sense in the Pacific Northwest
2.      See how duct losses "count double" for heat pumps
3.      Leave with a systematic protocol for evaluating performance of heat pumps and air conditioners

Keyword(s):
