Indoor Air Quality

Building envelope, mechanical equipment and house operation deficiencies can affect indoor air quality (IAQ), occupant health, and housing durability. In existing houses, perfect solutions may be difficult to achieve. A methodical, building science approach is needed to understand root causes and make lasting improvements. Explore practical solutions to improve indoor air quality and house durability.

By attending this session, participants will

1. Increase their understanding of home IAQ and its importance

2. Learn how IAQ issues are often linked to costly building durability implications

3. Be better able to apply “system thinking” when investigating problems and designing lasting IAQ and durability solutions

Keywords: assessment, building science, condensation, construction defects, durability, health and safety, IAQ, moisture, mold, techniques

Topic(s): Introductory Sessions, Durability & Health, Indoor Air Quality
Type: Half-Day
