HVAC 1 - Duct Sealing: What Matters? What Works?

Tuesday, September 09, 2008  ·  10:00 AM - 11:30 AM

The primary function of a duct system is to provide comfort. What does it take to do this well? Inadequate design and installation can lower equipment efficiency and capacity, lower air filter efficacy, kill compressors, and create a chain for negative IAQ events. Even well-intended changes can cause problems for the HVAC system, house, and occupants. How do you recognize a big opportunity for improving system efficiency?
By attending this session, participants will
  1. Understand how duct systems are intended to work and what problems occur when the system is poorly deigned or installed
  2. Find out what is known about energy efficiency and duct modifications
  3. Respect the potential for unintended consequences to occur when changes are made to a duct system
